Edward Packer,
General Manager

Genuinely great course and positive experience. It was a shame it was just me on the course, as interaction with others is always a benefit. However, equally it was very nice receiving one to one training and Marta could personalise the course relevant precisely for me. Great venue and nice lunch. Will come again and be sending my team on further training. Great stuff.

Training manual sample

Below are some extracts from our People Management for Managers manual.

10 ways Managers can build trust

1. Open Up

It is important to expose yourself to your team.

Exposing doesn’t mean spilling your secrets to let them take advantage of you. Have the guts to admit your failures and demonstrate your thoughts without any hindrance.

2. Create The Circle Of Safety

Treat your people like ‘human beings’ and give them a sense of security, belonging, an ultimate purpose and proper care. The first step to trust is care; the team needs to feel cared to trust you.

3. Listen Before Speaking

Always listen to the views of others with a motive to understand rather than just to reply.

4. Lead by Example

In most workplaces, the team members are always keeping an eye of your actions and taking cues from you.

5. Support Your Staff

A vital factor to build employee engagement and trust is to show them support.

6. Respect Your Employees
Respecting every person on your team is important step towards gaining the trust of your team.

7. Take The Hit

Make sure to take the blame, being their leader, when an undesirable outcome happens.

8. Accept Disagreement

An open discussion is the best way to solve a problem when differences in opinions arise. Explore new ways with an intention to solve the problems. The presence of disagreements means the team trusts you enough and is not afraid to tell you the truth.

9. Value Every Team Member

Every person has unique strengths and weaknesses.

Find the unique strengths of every team member and use those skills for the good of your organisation. Give them freedom to explore new ideas and show their creative side. Give them opportunities to learn something from every failure.

10. Praise Others

Appreciating and valuing another person helps in building trust quickly.

Fostering collaboration and synergy in our teams…

Establish Clear Goals and Objectives:

Clear goals provide the foundation for collaboration by aligning team members toward a common purpose. When everyone understands the team's objectives, they can work together more effectively.

Encourage Open Communication:

Effective communication is crucial for collaboration. Encourage team members to share ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback. Create an environment where open dialogue is valued.

Use Collaborative Tools and Technologies:

Leverage collaboration tools such as project management software, shared documents, and communication platforms. These tools facilitate seamless information sharing and teamwork.

Foster Trust and Psychological Safety:

Trust is the bedrock of collaboration. Managers should create an atmosphere where team members feel safe expressing their opinions without fear of judgment. Psychological safety encourages risk taking and innovation.

Promote Diversity and Inclusion:

Diverse teams bring different perspectives and ideas. Encourage inclusivity by valuing each team member's unique background, skills, and experiences. Diversity enhances creativity and problem solving.

Establish Team Norms and Agreements:

Define team norms regarding communication, decision making, and conflict resolution. Having clear guidelines ensures consistency and minimises misunderstandings.

Foster a Sense of Belonging:

When team members feel like they belong, they collaborate more effectively. Organise teambuilding activities, celebrate achievements, and create a positive work culture.

Encourage Collaboration Across Departments:

Break down silos by promoting collaboration between different departments. Cross functional projects allow team members to learn from each other and share expertise.
