Designing a website

What is the best software for publishing to the web?

RE: Designing a website

Hi Denise

I assume by this you mean which FTP program should you use. I can only make a personal recommendation for this and I would recommend that you use an application called WS FTP. I have been using this software for a number of years now, and have recently upgraded to the latest version. I am very pleased with it and have found it to be a much better piece of software than the simalar products that I have used.

The link to their website is:

Hope this helps

RE: Designing a website

Denise,

If you did mean FTP (file transfer protocol), Dreamweaver has it's own built in FTP feature, so it's worth checking that out. Another FTP client is Cute FTP, published by globalScape.

Note: FTP clients don't usually have interfaces to design the web pages. They are, in their most basic form, a way of transferring the web site files from your computer (local) to your hosting computer (remote).

However, I think your question is more directed at what is the best software to design pages. The market leader is currently Adobe Dreamweaver. Microsoft's Frontpage is also widely used, mainly because it integrates and sometimes ships with Microsoft Office.

Microsoft has recently launched their Expression studio dubbing it "a professional design tool to create modern, standards-based sites that deliver superior quality on the Web."

For non-mainstream software packages, head over to the top ten web site creation applications web site provided by Top Ten Reviews.
