MS project

Hi
On a ending the training we were advised not to move the start and the end date,so how do we adjust the start date if the project has already started and we are planning in retrospect?
Eg. The phase 2 of a programme which started in phase 1 but creating a separate plan for phase 2.
Thanks

RE: MS project

Hi Pamela

Thank you for your question. If you are scheduling a project that has already started you can use Project > Project Information to set the correct start date in the past) and start building your plan.

Let me know if this addresses the question you raised or not. Happy to help further.

Kind regards,
Andrew

RE: MS project

Thanks Andrew will definitely try that, does thatvmean I have to enter the task start date and duration that should calculate the end date.
Thanks

RE: MS project

Hi Pamela

Thanks for coming back to me. If you add your tasks as into a project where the start date for the whole plan is set in the past they will automatically move to the earliest date possible. When you link them they will reach forward though the schedule as normal.

If you want your tasks to fall on a specific date you might want to constrain them by entering a start date. This creates the Start No Earlier Than constraint set to the date you entered.

At any point you can look at Project > Project information and it will show you the end date of your plan. In reality this is the end of the last task in your schedule.

I hope this helps - let me know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew
