Copy An Access Database

Hello. I created an Access database for the last financial year. I now need to duplicate this database for the new financial year. How can I do this?

I tried copy and paste, but it made some of my Reports and Queries buggy. Or should I copy and paste and just re-do my Queries from scratch?

Thank you

RE: Copy An Access Database

Hello Katrina,

Regarding a copy of your database. The easiest and safest way of creating a duplicate of your Access database, is to ensure you are not in Access, close the application down.
Locate the Database file you would like to copy in Windows Explorer and perform a regular Copy/Paste procedure.

Providing your database is not using linked files from external sources all content of the database will function exactly as the original.

I have never come across, or seen any forum postings of people having problems with a straight forward copy.

If this does not work, we'll need to look deeper into the structure and content of your original database.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

RE: Copy An Access Database

Thank you. I think the problem may be linked to me changing the names of the Queries and Reports. They have titles ending 2012/2013 and I after I change them to 2013/2014, they don't want to cooperate. So I'll copy and paste as normal and re-do my Queries and Reports.

Thanks again
