Can the 3 colours Red, Yellow, Green be adapted to 4 colours Red, Amber, Yellow, Green, without all the shades of darker and lighter for each?

RE: Conditionals

Hi Antony

It's not possible to do this using colour scales, but you can use the first option under the conditional formatting menu, Highlight Cell Rules, to layer as many different colours as you like.

For example:

Format cells that are greater than 750 with green fill.
Format cells that are greater than 500 with yellow fill.
Format cells that are greater than 250 with amber fill.
Format cells that are greater than 0 with red fill.

This would give four distinct colours based on your number criteria.

Let me know if you have any problems with this.

Kind Regards,

Excel tip:

Line breaks in a cell

You can control the line breaks for multiple-line headings or labels in your Microsoft Excel worksheet, just like you do in Microsoft Word. Here's how to do it.

Click the cell where you want the label or heading to appear.
Type the first line of information.
Press ALT+ENTER.
