Is there a way to change the parent of an existing sub-site?
Is it possible to download a selection of documents from a library?

RE: Sharepoint

Hello Niamh,

Hope you enjoyed your Sharepoint course with BEST STL Training.

Try the following steps:

Q: Is there a way to change the parent of an existing sub-site?

A: Yes, it is possible to copy or move it any site. Follow these steps:

1. Click onto the Content and Structure link under Site Administration
2. Select the parent site of the subsite you want to move in the left navigation pane.
3. Check the box next to the subsite that you want to move in the right pane, click the Actions drop-down and click Move…
4. Then select the destination of the subsite selected in the next dialog box

Q: Is it possible to download a selection of documents from a library?

A:
In the SharePoint website, locate the library which stores the files you want to download
Click the Library option at the top of the page.
Look for a button that says "Open with Explorer."
Click this to open the library in Windows [File] Explorer. From here you can select multiple files and then drag/drop or copy/paste to your destination.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

Kind regards,

Richard

RE: Sharepoint

Hi Richard

I don't seem to have the option for "Content and Structure". I have the higest level of access allowed within our team. Is this something that can only be done by the site owner? Is there another way around it?

In relation to my 2nd question. We are likely to have over 100 documents in one library. Opening with windows explorer shows all the documents and it's quite hard to sort through and extract just the 10 or so that we need to export. Is there a way to open just a selection or filtered version of the list?

Thanks

Niamh

RE: Sharepoint

Hi Niamh,

Yes, you would need to be the site administrator to do this, see the attached graphic for view would need to see for this option.

Re multiple selective downloading, Microsoft has a add-on for Sharepoint 2013 that allows multiple selective downloads here:

https://store.office.com/download-multiple-documents-WA104146066.aspx?queryid=13438635-5733-4ac2-9d9b-ae0782bd002f& ;css=download&CTT=1&lc=en-us&assetid=WA104146066&ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

So if you have 2013, great, if not, there may be other paid solutions online.

Kind regards,

Richard

Microsoft Office tip:

Full Menu Display (Office 2003-2000)

One of the developments in Microsoft Office is that the Menu system has been optimized. This means that only recently used functions are displayed initially when you SINGLE CLICK on the menu.
There are many ways of getting around this:
1. DOUBLE CLICK on the menu bar, it will automatically expand
2. click on the DOUBLE ARROW you see on the bottom of the menu.
3. Wait for the menu to expand

If you always want to have the menus expanded:
4. On the menu bar, click TOOLS, then CUSTOMISE. Select OPTIONS, then uncheck the
