Cutting and pasting

Hi, I would like to cut and paste a task - which has numerous subtasks - from one MS project file to another. So I collapse the entire task - right click on the 'row number' of the task to copy the task & subtasks, then right click and paste to insert this task & substasks at the top of the other MS Project file. This seems to work OK but (just checking the task row) the pasted data does not keep the start date constraints. How can I copy the task & subtasks from one sheet to another and keep the date constaints please?

RE: Cutting and pasting

Hi Linda

Thanks for your question. It may be a limitation with Project 2007. Have you tried copying across a sub task that is not collapsed - if so did it's constraint copy correctly?

I have founds some related information on the Microsoft website that may be of interest, although everything suggests the constraint should be copied.

Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:

Email a Task

When you need to communicate important information to your project staff use Microsoft Project 2003 to send them a note using outlook or an e-mail system.

1.In a task sheet, select the task or tasks which you want to send a project note.

2.On the File menu, point to Send To, and then select Mail Recipient (as Schedule Note).

3.Under Address message to, select the recipients of your note.
