Powerpoint 2010?

How do you embed flash within Powerpoint 2010? ie: insert object.

RE: Powerpoint 2010?

Hi Amy

Thanks for getting in touch. To embed Flash objects in a PowerPoint presentation you have to really go round the houses, but it is possible.

First, you need to enable Developer mode. Go to File > Options > Customize Ribbon. On the right-hand side check the box marked Developer and click OK. A new tab should have appeared.

On the Developer tab there is a section marked Controls. On it find the icon called More Controls (a little hammer and spanner image). In this list select Shockwave Flash object. On your slide, draw out a rectangle with the mouse.

Find the Properties button. In the Movie property paste the URL (online or file path) where you can find the Flash object. And you're done!

It's quite fiddly, so if you get stuck let us know.

Kind regards

PowerPoint tip:

Capture Screenshots in Powerpoint 2010

A great new feature to Powerpoint 2010 is the "screen clipping" command. This allows you to capture an image on your screen directly via powerpoint.

Go to your insert tab on the ribbon and in the images box you will see "sreenshot", click on the arrow and select "screen clipping". Powerpoint will minimise and you will be taken to the next open application or your desktop. Wait a few seconds a your screen will grey out a little and your mouse curser will turn into a + sign. Hold your mouse down and select the area you wish to capture. When you let go of your mouse the selected area will be exported into your powerpoint presentation as an image which you can edit.

It really simple and very effective, give it a go!

This feature is also available on Excel and Word.
