Uploading pages

I have tried the advice given to Gavin and deleted old browser history but there is still the old text on the web... what can I do please?!!!

RE: uploading pages

Hi Laila,

Be absolutely certain that the new file has been uploaded. For some reason it may be going into a different directory on the server etc. You can also try deleting the actual file off your server, and refreshing your browser and the browser should report that the file does not exist, then upload your new file.

Try a different browser (eg. if you're using IE, install firefox and see if that shows the new document version).

Try a different computer. If there is another computer in your office or home that hasn't been to the web page before, try loading up the page: they should get the new version as it is the most current, and not cached. If they get the old version of your page, then something has gone wrong on the server, and your new version has not been uploaded correctly.

Shift+F5 is supposed to do a complete refresh, regardless of cache.

Press F5 about 20 times in a row in quick succession. I know it sounds crazy, but this has worked for me a few times in the past.

Rename the new version of the file (eg. if it's index.html, name it index2.html) and upload/test that one. If it works, but index.html is still showing the old version, then i'd say it's still a cache/history issue. Remove ALL possible history, cache and temporary internet files.

Let me know how you get on.

Regards, Rich

Dreamweaver tip:

Testing a site

When developing a site, you have to cater to the widest possible audience allowing for users with different browsers and display settings.
Test pages to see how they look with:

- different display resolutions
- browser with graphics turned off
- many different browsers not just IE
- if possible different operating systems.
