Start up menu

Using the start up menu options I have managed to remove toolbar options. How can I get back into the start up menu so that I can restore some of the options. I cannot go into Tools and select Startup dialogue box as the Tool option no longer exists.

Please help.

RE: start up menu

David

If you hold down the SHIFT key while you open your database, it will override the startup settings. This will allow you to access the startup menu, and re-activate the menus you require.

This works because when you hold the shift key whilst opening a database, it overides all MACROS and startup options you have set on your database.
very handy when you have locked out your users from accessing your developments, and allowing you to get back to full functionality when you need it.

Richard

Access tip:

Splittng a database

Split your database into two (at least).

Keep all of your code, forms, reports, etc. in one 'code' database and all of your tables in another 'data' database which is then linked to the 'code' database.

This makes modifications, updates and back-ups that much easier and allows you to work on a new version of your 'code' database without affecting existing users. It also makes it easier should you wish to convert a single user databases into a multi-user networked version.
