Does anyone know why when we send a message using html stationary that at the recieving end the image used for logo is an attachment to the email, and is this possible to stop
thankyou

RE: Stationary

Colin,

When an email is created using stationery, Outlook or Outlook Express inserts whatever message is added into the HTML, packages it all into a single email (with attachments) and sends it off to the recipient.

The recipients e-mail client will usually display the stationery of the message body fine. However, how it shows the attachments may differ between e-mail clients.

For example, I just sent a stationery e-mail to myself to two different addresses. One to an e-mail address I check using Outlook, and one to my Hotmail.

When i checked the e-mail using Outlook, I saw all the stationery in the e-mail, and it appeared no attachments were present. When I checked the e-mail in Hotmail, I had two attachments: the background image and the main stationery image.

I believe Outlook detects it is 'stationery', and hides the attachments. Indeed, if you open an e-mail that has stationery in Outlook, the 'file' menu will show 'save stationery' option.

Does your recipient use Outlook or Outlook Express and can still see the stationery 'attachments'? If so, there may be an option I am unaware of, and if that's the case I can research this further for you. Get back to me if that's the case.

If they are using an e-mail client other than Outlook, then I'm fairly sure you can't stop the attachments (if you want to use stationery). One thought would be to use web space to host the images, and adjust your stationery to point to the web space for its images. But I haven't tested this - it would be more of a consultancy job.

Regards, Rich

PS. a quick search on Google discovered this reply to the your question: "It's up to the client of the recipient whether or not embedded images/files are exposed as attachments or not. You cannot control this."

RE: Stationary - HTML settings

Dear Colin

Thank you for attending Access courses with us. I hope they were beneficial to you.

Sometimes when you send e-mails as HTML stationary and the e-mail has pictures located on the internet Outlook has been programmed to send pictures instead of the reference to their locations.

Try this and hopefully it should be able to resolve the problem.

Step 1: Tools> Options...
Step 2: Choose the Mail Format tab
Step 3: ensure that the compose in this message format you have chosen HTML.
Step 4: Click the Internet options button and un-tick the option that says about sending a copy of pictures.
Step 5: Click OK twice to get back to normal Outlook environment
Step 6: Compose a new e-mail (I would recommend you to close Outlook and then restart Outlook because some features used in Tools > Options require restarting Outlook).

Please let me know if it worked or not.

If it helps you in resolving your query then please mark this question as resolved. Otherwise please reply to this mail and we can look at other alternatives!!

Many thanks

Kindest Regards
