Word - Tabs

Hello

Sometimes I find it impossible to put a tab in at the end of a sentence when I type up my Minutes. It is for an action point: eg:

exampleexample - AC to complete. AC

RE: Word - Tabs

Hello Angela,

Thank you for your question. Just to clarify, are you referring to inserting a tab stop using the top ruler / tab stops dialogue box?

This will help me to give you the correct advice.

Kind regards

Hello Marius

Yes exactly that. Thank you.

RE: Word - Tabs

Hi Angela,

Thanks for clarifying. The quick way to insert a tab stop (I'm guessing this is what you are doing already) is to click in the top ruler on the desired marking.

You may also know that you can change the alignment of tab stops by clicking the tab stop icon at the top left above the side ruler.

If, for some reason, clicking on the ruler doesn't work, try the following:

In the Home tab, in the Paragraph group, click the bottom right corner arrow.

In the dialogue box, at the bottom, click the Tabs button.

In the next box, you can set one or more tab stops by entering the centimetre positions of the tabs. You can also set the alignments.

Click Set, then OK when you're done.

This will insert the tab stop in your current line on the page. Afterwards, when you press Enter (Return), each new line will have the same tab stop(s).

This also applies when you insert tabs via the ruler.

If the text is too close to the right-side margin, simply make the margin narrower.

To clear tab stops, simply click and drag the tab stop downwards from the top ruler.

If it still doesn't work for you, please continue using the forum.

Kind regards

Word tip:

Making Word file sizes smaller

Word document file sizes can get rather large, particularly when a lot of graphics are inserted into a document.

You can significantly reduce the size of a Word file by opening the document, selecting all the contents (Ctrl + A), then hold down Ctrl + Shift + F9. Then resave the document (saving with a new filename will allow you to be able to compare the file size of this document with the original).
