    Smarter Report Interaction

    Conditional Formatting
    Aim: To apply rule to gauge so Fill Colour turns green when target is exceeded and red if not
    • Go to Format icon > Colours > Fill Colour > fx button
    • Set ‘Format Style’ to ‘Rules’
    • For ‘What field should we base this on’, select the value field being used in the gauge
    • Set 1st rule: >=80,000 and <200,000 Green
    • Set 2 nd rule >0 and <80.000 Red. Click OK

    Custom Tooltip
    1. Create a new page named ‘Tooltip page’
    2. In the Format icon under Page Information turn on ‘Allow use as Tooltip’
    3. In Canvas settings under Type check it says ‘Tooltip’. For a larger ‘canvas’ select ‘Custom’ and set width and height e.g. 400px by 400px
    4. Click back on the Field Well icon. Now create a ‘Donut’ visual
    5. Select the chart to which you want to attach the tooltip visual
    6. In the Format icon go to General > Tooltip and set Page to ‘Tooltip page’
    7. Now test that it works by hovering over the chart for each column

    Focus on What Matters

    Top N Filter
    Aim: To apply a Top band of categories according to a performance measure e.g. Top 5 Products by Extended Price (EP)
    1. Create Table visual based on Product by EP
    2. In the Filter Pane, select Top N
    3. Show Items: Top 5
    4. By Value: Extended Price
    5. Click ‘Apply’

    Old way to create summary reports:
    1. Use a LOOKUP function to match ID no. from Fact table to Lookup table
    2. Populate Salespersons’ names in Fact Table
    3. Create Pivot Table to summarise Salespersons’ Total Sales

    Create DATA MODEL as an alternative
    1. ‘Get Data’ from different data sources
    2. Select ‘Model View’
    3. Check relationship is showing a ‘One to Many’ Cardinality
