Insert a large number of rows

Hi. Quick question. How can I insert let´s say 500 rows quickly, instead of copy-pasting rows manually?

RE: Insert a large number of rows

HI Alejandro

I need a little more information.

did you mean you want to automate the process using macros?

Where are the rows of data coming from?

Are these 2 separate tables/spreadsheets/datasources which need to be joined together?

As always there are many ways to achieve a task so would need to understand your reason and purpose.

RE: Insert a large number of rows

Thanks for the swift response Dennis.

What I meant is the following:

For example, I have a worksheet full of data, and somewhere between the rows (filled with data), I need to create space to add information. So I would naturally go to where rows are numbered, right click on a row, and then hit INSERT to add a new row. I would then copy the new row, and hit PASTE. Then I would repeat the process till I reach the 500 rows I need to add.

But as you taught us yesterday - surely there must be a more efficient way of doing so!

RE: Insert a large number of rows

Hi

There is no built-in feature to automatically add # rows or columns.

You could create a macro to insert a specific number of rows or columns when ran.

Alternatively, if you remember the golden rule 'select first' you can either use the mouse to select multiple rows by dragging the mouse down the left row headings and then right clicking add rows.

or you can use the keyboard, hold the SHIFT key down and press PGDN multiple times to select the desired number of rows. Then press CTRL SHIFT + (PLUS SIGN) which will then insert the rows.

I hope this helps.
