Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know the formula to delete characters within a cell?

I have a list of ID numbers that I need to do a vlookup on but need to delete part of it first.

For eg: If the ID is BDRTF875421459387 how do i separate the alphabets from the digits?

Also, if there is a formular to split/separate all digits in a cell, please do share

Any help/info would be much appreciated - thank you

Kind regards,

Sherryl

RE: Excel

Hi Sherryl,

Thank you for the forum question.

You can user the Right function to extract characters from the right and the Left function to extract characters from the left.

Do you always have the same number of letters and digits in the text string?

Excel tip:

Line breaks in a cell

You can control the line breaks for multiple-line headings or labels in your Microsoft Excel worksheet, just like you do in Microsoft Word. Here's how to do it.

Click the cell where you want the label or heading to appear.
Type the first line of information.
Press ALT+ENTER.
