Breaks in a task

Hi,

Where there are breaks in a task, is it possible to show milestones linked to the end of each break point in the task?

Thanks
Bassam

RE: breaks in a task

Hi Bassam

Have you marked the task as a milestone? Or used a zero day duration?

You might have to format the milestone task to show the entire duration instead of the end date

RE: breaks in a task

Hi Wendy

Perhaps my question was not very clear. I have a task with multiple breaks and I wanted to show (on the next few lines of the Gantt chart) a number of milestones, each linked to one of the break point in the task.

I can achieve the same end result by breaking the task into a number of shorter tasks and linking each milestone to one of these shorter tasks but that would not be as neat.

Kind regards
Bassam

RE: breaks in a task

Hi Bassam

Unfortunately, I think you'll have to make them individual smaller tasks with milestones. You can't insert milestones between the breaks in a task.

Noted. Thank you very much Wendy.

MS Project tip:

Avoid Accidental Constraints

The initial default table is the Entry table. Enter a task name and duration, but do not enter start or finish dates. Form the plan using links, predecessors. Typing dates introduces constraints. To remove these constraints, double click on a task, and on the Advanced page of Task Information set the constraint back to As Soon As Possible (all other options are there too.)
