Formula bar

I have a Mac and use 2008 version of Excel. Should I have a formula bar on this version?

RE: Formula bar

Hi Wendy,

Thank you for your question. Although I don't personally use a Mac, I understand that it works as follows:

Click on View > Formula Bar, then tick the option to display the formula bar. This is the quick fix.

However, apparently sometimes the box is already ticked and you can't see the formula bar. Also, you can't tick or un-tick the box. The fix would then be to close Excel, press and hold the Control and Shift keys and then open Excel.

This is meant to reset the tool bars and the formula bar should show. If the formula bar "floats", simply drag it to the top where it will dock to its proper place.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Excel tip:

Screen Splitters in Excel

Screen splitter icons can be set from the ribbon bar, or dragged from the scroll bars. The icon just above the up arrow on the right scroll bar controls the horizontal splitter; the icon to the right of the right arrow on the bottom scroll bar controls the vertical splitter.

These icons can be double-clicked to split the screen at the top left of the cell currently in use.
