Conditional Formatting in Project 2010

Is it possible to format conditionally from one column to another? This is as opposed to applying conditional formatting to bar graphics.

What I would like, for example, is to be able to have a have the % Complete column and if I type in 100 I'd like another 'Flag' type column to update to Yes. This in turn sets my bar graphic (which I can do through Bar Styles).

Thanks,

Mark

RE: Conditional Formatting in Project 2010

Hello Mark,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Project Intro Intermediate course with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding conditional formatting in Project 2010.

First of all right-click any column heading in the table area and select Custom fields. Choose a Flag option from the top right drop-down. Click the Formula... button and type the following into the formula area.

IIf([% Complete]=100,"Yes","No")

Then insert the column to observe what it does when a task is marked as complete. A 'Yes' will appear. Then edit the Bar Styles by adding another row called Task Complete and in the Show For... column select the Flag field you have added the formula to. Modify the appearance as required.

Give this a try!

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

MS Project tip:

Formatting Bar Text

To display notes or resource initials on the Gantt chart bars, choose Format, Bar Styles and the Text tab. Select the position you want to show the text i.e. Top or Inside etc, then choose the field name you are looking for from the drop down arrow. Type the first letter of the name to get quickly to the top of the letter range. Click OK.
