Sum If/And

Hello

I am trying to sum a column only if two criteria are met.

I have 100 rows of data and want to know if any of them are owned by person x and evaluated at risk Y to add them all up and return the total amount in the 100 rows.

Does that make sense???

Thank you!

RE: Sum If/And

Hi Emma

Thank you for your question, it makes perfect sense :)

If you can send me your email address I'll send you through an Excel file with an example and explanation of how the SUMIF function works.

RE: Sum If/And

Nafeesa,

Im not sure but i think that due to some of the columns now having conditional formatting that the sumif function is not working - as the formula prior to this formatting was working...

RE: Sum If/And

Hi Emma,

The conditional formatting shouldn't affect the calculation.

I have just sent you an email with an example of a slightly different method of using the SUMIF function using an Excel add-in called Conditional Sum.

I hope this helps. Do let me know how it goes.

Excel tip:

Autofit column width – Excel (all versions)

a. Highlight the column or columns you wish to alter the width of. You do this by clicking on the grey button at the top of the column showing the column letter. Click and drag on these letters to select more than one column.
b. Double click the dividing line between the columns. This dividing line is the break between the columns on the column headers (grey buttons showing the column letter at the top of each column). When you hover your mouse over one of these dividing lines the point will change and show an arrow pulling a line in two directions. When you have this mouse pointer you should double click to get Excel to automatically set the column width to fit the contents of the column (autofit)
