Where would we be without PDFs?

Adobe's Portable Document Format, to give it its proper name, is now so much the industry standard that viewing a document in any other way would be unthinkable to large sections of the corporate world. There is simply so much support for PDFs out there; from PDF-based solutions like training and consultation to the preservation of data within a PDF regardless of the application used to create it.

The Acrobat family of software has reached its tenth version and with each upgrade Adobe have consistently raised the bar in PDF creation. Adobe Acrobat X is no exception to this rule; providing a high quality, easily accessible and distributable service that will significantly enhance your experience of both creating and utilising Portable Document Formats.

There is now hardly anything that cannot be converted to PDF. Emails, spreadsheets, websites; all of these are easily transformed by Acrobat X, and embedding media files such as images and video is also straightforward. And as well as easy conversion there are now more compatible viewing devices than ever for PDFs, with mobile devices and smartphones joining the ranks of more established platforms. Let us also not forget that Adobe Reader is absolutely free and supported by just about every platform. All of which means that there are no barriers to the creation and viewing of PDFs in the 21st century.

Editing and exporting PDF files to Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel has also been ironed out in Adobe Acrobat X. In previous versions of Acrobat there were teething problems preserving the format and layout of PDFs once they had been exported to Word but this issue has been resolved in Acrobat X and so the transition is now smoother than ever.

There is a greater sense of inclusivity in Acrobat X, with the ability to combine different types of files within one portfolio. This eliminates the need to create numerous different documents for different tasks or actions and adds to much greater coherence when distributing PDFs for viewing by clients and colleagues.

Acrobat X also goes further in helping you format and automate your documents. Key new features such as the Action Wizard and Version Comparison allow you to save time by automatically highlighting issues and discrepancies within documents. The Action Wizard allows you to automate a group of commands or actions that are frequently used either in one PDF or across many, whilst Version Comparison analyses the differences between two or more versions of PDFs and highlights these disparities automatically.

Compatibility is a major part of Adobe Acrobat X with the ability to ensure that your PDFs conform both to industry standards and disability guidelines. Acrobat X can check your documents against ISO regulations and inform you as to what you need to change to agree with the standards.

And security is also uppermost in Adobe's mind with Acrobat X. There are various methods to secure your data, from digital signatures, passwords and permanent redaction of sensitive material that mean you need never worry about your PDFs getting into the wrong hands.
