How to overwrite an existing table in PBI
Hi
I have a data set that is consistently changing on a daily basis. I have an existing report in PBI but when I export the same Excel sheet but with updates, PBI creates another table and I have to re-point my charts to the newly created table in PBI.
Must be a way to simply overwrite the original table so that the charts update themselves once the data is refreshed??
Many thanks, Gordon.
RE: How to overwrite an existing table in PBI
Hi Gordon,
Thank you for the forum question.
Power BI is all about names. If you have the data in a Excel file and make a connection to the file, Power BI will store the URL, file name, and sheet name in the Query Editor. If you have the data in the table tool in Excel, you can update the source data and on refresh, Power BI will not create a new table, and you will not need to change your report.
If it is a new Excel file you will have to redirect your connection in the Query Editor from the previous file to the new file. If you create a new connection, you will create a new table.
Kind regards
