Index, Pivot Tables

How do you set the pivot table to be on classical view at all times

RE: Index, Pivot Tables

Hi Alhagie,

Thank you for the forum question.

You can set classic view for Pivot Tables to default. Then every time you create a new Pivot Table in will be the classic view.

1 Click the File tab and click Option bottom left
2 Click the Data option. Excel changes what is displayed in the Excel Options dialog box.
3 Click the Edit Default Layout button. Excel displays the Edit Default Layout dialog box.
4 Click the PivotTable Options button. Excel displays the PivotTable Options dialog box.
5 Make sure the Display tab is selected.
6 Click the Classic PivotTable Layout check box.
7 Click OK to dismiss the PivotTable Options dialog box.
8 Click Cancel to dismiss the Edit Default Layout dialog box.
9 Click Cancel to dismiss the Excel Options dialog box.

You can also see the steps if you use the link below. Ignore the VBA at the top. Scroll down approximately half the page and start from figure 1

Excel tip:

Conditional Formatting in Excel 2010

If you have lots of data in a spreadsheet, you may find that it is easier to read if you highlight some of the values. This is Conditional Formatting and here's how to use it:

1) Select the data you wish to apply the format to and click Conditional Formatting
2) A list of options will then appear, from this list, choose the format you wish to display e.g. find all cells with a value less than 0
3) Excel will then highlight all of these cells

To remove this: select the highlighted cells, click the drop down on the Conditional Formatting icon and select Clear Rules from selected cells.
