Charts

I have a chart with text boxes in it. When I copy and paste (special) the chart into another worksheet not all of the text boxes are copied across. It seems as if they are not all grouped together and I can't work out how to resolve it.

RE: Charts

Hi Gill,

Thank you for the forum question.

It sounds like you have inserted the text boxes on top of the chart and that the text boxes are not a part of the chart.

Select the chart press Ctrl (and keep Ctrl down) and now click on the text boxes. This will add them to your selection. When all the objects are selected press Ctrl C to copy all the object. Now When you paste you should get it all.

You have another option which may be will be easier. On the Home tab click Find & Select in the Editing group. Click Selection Pane and you will see the selection pane to the right.

Select the chart in the selection pane press control and select the text boxes in the selection pane. Copy and Paste.

Kind regards

RE: Charts

Thanks Jens, all sorted now!

Excel tip:

Fill formulae across a sheet

To copy a formula down a spreadsheet where there is data underneath, to the left or to the right of the formula, double-click on the fill handle. The fill handle is the little black cross that appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the formula cell. Unfortunately, no similar facility exists to copy formulae across the sheet.

One reasonably quick way to copy an existing formula across a sheet is to select the formula and the cells on the right to which you want to copy it. Then press Ctrl+R to copy the formula across the selected range, or, if you are menu-minded, use the Edit|Fill|Right command.
