Financial Statements in Excel

Best way of using Excel to build financial statements?

RE: Financial Statements in Excel

Hi Sam,

Thank you for the forum question.

Follow Excel best practice rules when you are creating financial models in Excel.

There are a lot of best practice rules we should follow. The most important rules are:

1. keep it simple
2. Focus on the output not the input. If you need to analyse the data the input must be setup for the tools yo need for the data analysis.
3. Make it easy to update
4. Make it easy to develop

I hope that I gave you something which will help you in the right direction.

Kind regards

Excel tip:

Highlighting a data range

Attempting to use a mouse to highlight a large range of cells with data in Excel can make the mouse to have a life of it's own!

Use keyboard strokes instead.

Step 1. Place the cusor in the cell where the highlighting should begin.

Step 2. Select keystroke, CTRL+SHIFT+END

This will take the cursor to the furthermost bottom corner of the data range found in that worksheet. And highlight that range of cells at the same time
