Waterfall charts / Bridge Charts
I would love to learn more about Waterfall charts, is there an easier way to create them> Also how can I incorporate a Macro to create them.
RE: Waterfall charts / Bridge Charts
Hi Carlien
Thanks for getting in touch. The waterfall chart is a popular request and whilst there's no template built into Excel there are a few ways to create them.
Incidentally, I'd build the charts in Excel before transferring into PowerPoint - it's just a bit easier to work natively in Excel.
I've attached the template I use when training. It is a stacked column chart. The principle is in column B a 'foundation' or 'base' column is created, that props up the real value you're trying to display.
There's probably no need for a macro. Change the labels in column A and the positive and negative values in column G and the chart will take care of itself. You may need to insert / delete rows as applicable.
Enjoy using the template, I've also included a link to a very good walkthrough on the file. If you have any questions please let me know.
Kind regards
