Mailmerge from excel spreadsheet

Hi,
I'm trying to mail merge invoices from an excel spreadsheet into Word. However even though the exact value in the excel cell is 0.413, it comes up in the word mail merge as 0.4129999999999999999.

Slightly differently some of the values in the excel spreadsheet are rounded to 2 decimal places by the formula =round, 2, however once again they are not in 2 dp in the word mail merge.

How do I transfer these values to 2 d.p. into my word mail merge?

RE: Mailmerge from excel spreadsheet

Hello Tashi,

Thank you for your question regarding merging data from an Excel spreadsheet into Word.

I have found that the easiest way to overcome this problem is to open a new file in Word, then copy the data from the Excel data list and paste into Word using destination formatting.

This will create a table in Word with the exact same information as you have in Excel. Save the file and close it. Then go to your invoice template in Word and insert the various fields that you require. Once you go to the preview stage you will notice that all formatting problems you mentioned have disappeared.

Give it a try!

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
