Paste Linking

A full explanation on how you do paste linking

RE: Paste Linking

Hi Bonnie

Thank you for your question.

To use the Paste Link option in PowerPoint allows you to maintain a relationship/link between a PowerPoint slide in your presentation and another object, i.e. text, chart, diagram etc. This essentially means, if you make any changes to the the object (chart, text, diagram), your PowerPoint slide will automatically update with the changes made.

To do this:

- Select the object you wish to link into your PowerPoint slide, i.e a string of text and Copy the object (Ctrl+C)

- In PowerPoint, go to the Home tab and click the bottom half of the Paste Button (1st button on the Ribbon.)

- Select Paste Special

- On the left-hand side of the dialogue box, select Paste Link.

The copied object should now be linked to your PowerPoint slide.

To test this out, make changes to the object in the original document. Save these changes and then observe the PowerPoint slide, these changes should now be reflected here.

PowerPoint tip:

2003 keyboard shortcuts work in 2010

If you are happy using your Ctrl + shortcuts and Alt + shortcuts, they still work in Powerpoint 2010.
