Powerpoint advance

I am having trouble inserting a movie into powerpoint, the movie is in DVD format. I have re-read my helpguide which i received on the day and it states you have to save the file before inputting but i do not have the option when first putting the DVD in. How do i do this and can it still work?
Thanks

RE: Powerpoint advance

Hi Grace,
Thank you for your question
In answer;
It is possible to take some sound and/or video clips from a DVD and turn them into a format which could be used in powerpoint. This is possible but is not as easy as you would think it should be

RE: Powerpoint advance

Hi Grace

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

I think that you will find it difficult to insert a movie off a DVD into the presentation. This is because normally a DVD contains several files which play in tandem, e.g. a video track and an audio track.

Perhaps you could try creating a hyperlink and see if you can create a link that will play the DVD when clicked?

To create a hyperlink, have the DVD in your machine first then either enter and select some text or select an image in your presentation, then use Ctrl + K to open the Insert Hyperlink dialogue box.

Ensure the Existing file or web page option is selected on the left, and see if you can select a file off the DVD under the Look in box.

If you can do this, then click OK. The hyperlink will only work when the presentation is in slide show (full screen) view.

Kind regards
Amanda

PowerPoint tip:

Quick Zooming in Powerpoint with rollerball mouses

Zooming in powerpoint works slightly differently than with word and excel. When you hold down the control key and roll the wheel up and down in will go through the zoom sizes up until 66% which you can choose from the zoom box, but after that it starts jumping up at 25%, 50% and then 100%.

TIP - if your cursor is not on the slide and in the slide/outline pane then when you zoom using CTRL it will zoom that pane instead.
