when sorting date why does the system jump off the first line (and drop a line)so that you have to include an extra line above to make it give you the correct data

Thank you for your question.

The Sort feature in Excel treats the first row as header row by default. To avoid that, you may highlight the full data table and choose DATA menu > SORT option and select No Header Row > Press OK.

Excel tip:

Sorting data stored in rows

Primarily Excel is set up to sort data that is stored in columns rather than rows.

It is possible to get Excel to sort data stored in rows however.

Click in the row you want to sort, or select the cells in the rows you wish to sort.

Go to Data - Sort, then go to the Options button in the bottom left corner of the Sort dialogue box.
