Read only
Hi there,
I was just wondering why on a few occasions you are not notified that the workbook is read only when someone else has it open, as this has happened a few times and has resulted in a loss of data?
Many Thanks
RE: Read only
Hi Tara
Thanks for getting in touch. This is unusual, I can only assume that Sharing has somehow been enabled. There are two places to check this.
1) Under Review, go to Protect and Share Workbook. Make sure Sharing... is unchecked.
2) Press ALT+T, then B. This opens a legacy window in Excel. Make sure the "Allow users..." checkbox is unchecked.
If both of these are clear I'm not sure what else to suggest. You might want to talk to your IT support as it is possible the file system of your network (I assume the file is on a shared drive) is allowing users to do this.
Kind regards
