Excel query

I have an excel file that I need some help in manipulating the data

RE: Excel query

Hi Cathryn, thanks for your query. What's the nature of the problem?

RE: Excel query

I think its a pivot table query - I need to obtain total transaction count by city ie i have a hotel name, city, transaction amount and I need to collate all spend in one city by hotel name.

RE: Excel query

Yes, that definitely sounds like a Pivot Table task to me. If you haven't messed with Pivots before have a look here for a good walkthrough. If you going to count transactions, you might need to change the default analysis on the Pivot Table from Sum to Count:

Excel tip:

Hide separate columns in Excel 2010

If you want to hide columns not adjacent to each other for example, Columns A, C and E then:-

1) Click on the fist column to be hidden i.e. A

2) Press and hold down the CTRL key

3) While holding the CTRL key, left click on the rest of the columns you want to hide i.e. C and E

4) Right click and choose Hide
