VBA Basics

Is there a good book that we should look at purchasing that will assist with the basics of development?

RE: VBA Basics

Keith,
An excellent resource is John Walkenbach's site.
(2018: Note this site is no longer valid).

Follow the link on the left to Excel Books.
Scroll down for the v2003 books.

Go for the 'Power Programming in VBA', not the 'Dummies' book.

I'd also strongly recommend the 2003 Formulas book. This covers use of names, various categories of built-in functions (e.g. financial), and also the strange and wonderful world of Array Formulas.

VBA tip:

Suspend DisplayAlerts in VBA

To stop Excel asking you things like "Do you want to delete this file...", use the following line of code at the beginning of the relevant VBA procedure:

Application.DisplayAlerts = False

At the end of the procedure make sure you use the following code to reactivate Display Alerts:

Application.DisplayAlerts = True
