How do i lock and make my databases read only to certain individuals
RE: Security
Dear Leigh
To make your database Read Only to certain individuals you need to create a Workgroup
In the workgroup you would then set up Groups and Users to which you would give permission levels to use the database (eg Read Only) or to use only certain parts of the database.
The problem is that to do this your IT department will have to give you FULL Administrator access to the network.
To set Security settings:
1. open the Tools menu
2. Select Security
3. Set a password that locks the whole database OR Set the Group/User permissions
Hope this helps
Carlos
RE: Security
Thanks for that Carlos.
I'm now having trouble working out the assigning of groups and users permissions.
RE: Security
Suggest reading through the HELP file under "user level security". Access security is indepth and a bit complex, so hang in there. Have you managed to get a working solution so far?
RE: Security
Yeah i have thanks, i will be doing the advanced course in a couple of weeks hopefully that will help me with it all aswell.
