User modification log

I have a database with many users making many changes per day.

I would like to retain a log of users modifications. It would defeat the object if this was overwritten each time a record change was made.

How can I retain a log of amendments/additions that would do what I needed?

RE: User modification log

Would you need to record the user that made the change, or just the change itself?

RE: User modification log

Both and the time the change was made.
If the field is subsequently changed I need to know the series of changes including user, time and data field/value not just the last change.

Hello Healther

Thank you for the clarification. We suspect that this question is outside of the scope of a support forum question. We are able to address your requirement with our consultancy services. Before considering that, perhaps you could run your question past the trainer on your Access VBA course on 2nd July, and see if they have any insight into your requirement.

As it is a public schedule course, there will probably not be time to go into depth on your question, but they might have an answer to guide you to your next step.

Please let us know if you want to discuss your next step in more detail. We are happy to assist you in developing your solution.

Regards

Richard

Access tip:

Space marks

It is good practice not i to have space marks for field names as this can lead to problems when using queries or VBA code. It is much better to use an underscore charcter to represent spaces in field names
