Split database

I've recently split a database as we have 3 users. The front end forms are saved on the server and the back end is saved on my PC.

Now I'm the only user able to access the forms and database. I've shared the folder on my PC that contains the back end to no avail.

we're still getting a message saying the path is not valid.

Help..!

RE: Split database

Hello Stuart,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Access courses with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding Splitting a Database.

There are many issues related to splitting a database such as: pros and cons; where to place the backend file and where to place the frontend file; security issues both for frontend and backend. All these issues must be addressed before actually splitting.

If you wish to revert back to the way it was then first make a backup of the backend file. After this, open the backend file and import all forms, queries by selecting all. Check that your relationships are still there.

Then rename the backend file extension to .aacdb (was .be)

This should now work as before and you can later split the database again once you have gone over all the issues mentioned above.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
