Historical data

how do you keep historical data unchanged, eg change in VAT rate will change the historical data

RE: historical data

Hello Eva,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Access courses with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding keeping historical data unchanged.

There are at least two ways you can do this.

1) You could create a query which contains the historical data that you do not want changed and archive it with a make table query. Run the query and the table will be saved. You will then have to create a delete query to delete these records from the other tables.

2) Create an update query containing necessary parameters which will allow you to view current records which can be updated with a new VAT rate for example. Run the query and all historical records will not be updated since they were not included in the query search criteria.

Try these options out!

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

Access tip:

Design View in Relationship window

Your in the Relationship window and changes are required to be made to a Table's design.

Rather than exiting the Relationship window, if you perform a right-mouse click on the table, it opens that table up in Design view
