RE: PK

Dear Lorna

Thank you for attending Access Intermediate!! I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

PK, standing for Primary Key is also known as the key field is the field that helps to make a particular record stand out from the other records. This means that the value in this filed cannot be duplicated.

Some examples are Customer ID in a customers table, Supplier ID in a Supplier Table, etc...

This is particular helpful when you start relating tables to each other. If you need more info on how to relate tables in MS Access then please reply to this post and I should be able to provide you with some response.

I hope this has answered your query.

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards

Access tip:

Run with the total

Often when creating reports with lists of transactions it can be useful to have a column which totals the transactions as the report progresses.

Using the Sum function gives the total for the whole group, not a running total.

Access provides an easy method of achieving a running total.

Click on the text box containing the data you wish to contain the running total.
Select the Data tab
Click in the Running sum option
Click the down arrow to view three options
