Entering a yes/no field as a check box on a table and form

I am working on a existing database I did not create. I can view it as a datasheet or in form view and design view. My aim is to add 3 checkboxes to the database to record yes or no to signify implementation of 3 different options.

I have created new fields by going to datasheet view, edit table. Now I can not work out how to format them as yes/no data. My plan was to do that then add then to the design view and from what I understand the default design view format for a yes/no field would be a check box.

I can format the new field I created by dragging it into the design view, right click on it, select properties, change format to yes/no. I then tried right clicking on the formatted field in the design view to chnage it to a check box but the option could not be selected.

I have tried just clicking on the check box icon on the ribbon and dragging a box onto the form but then when I check the box on one record it checks the box for evey record and vice-versa.

What is the best way to proceed? Thanks.

Access tip:

Modal forms

If you have created a form / switchboard and dont want people to get away from using the switchboard, you can change the form properites for Modal to On.
