Number of records in the database

Hello,

I was hoping you could give me some tips regarding how to deal with databases that holds few million records. I am quite confident with dealing with Access, however my experience is with smaller databases that holds thousands rather then millions records. I was wondering if you could give me some tips about how to manage such big databases. What should I pay attention to, what are the trickiest things I should look at or are there any tricks to get around such enormous amount of data?

Thank you in advance

RE: number of records in the database

Hi malgorzata

Thank you for your question

Can you clarify a point for me please?

Is you database "stand alone"; i.e. set up on a single PC; or is it shared on a server. If the later, has the database been split into a front end and a back end

Thanks

Stephen

RE: number of records in the database

Hi,

the database is on a shared server but has not been split up.

Many thanks
M

Access tip:

Hide Access Tables

One method of stopping your Access tables appearing in Database window, is to rename the table(s) with the prefix usys.

This converts the table into a system object, which cannot be viewed in the Database window.

You can show system objects in the Database window by the following:

Step 1: On the Tools menu, click Options.
Step 2: Click the View tab.
Under Show, select the System Objects check box.
Click OK.
