Importing into Access

How effective is getting external data from Excel into Access?

RE: Importing into Access

Dear Clare

Thank you for attending Access Intro course. I hope you enjoyed the course and benefited from it.

The effectiveness of importing Excel information into Access depends on the context of the data being imported.

If your question is more about how easy is it then it is quite straight forward. Please ensure that in Excel the first row (Row 1) contains the Column headings.

You can either link the Excel file into access or you can simply import the entire data in excel as a seperate table.

To import the Excel data as a seperate table into Access please follow these steps:

Save your Excel file ensuring that the first row contains the column headings

In Access select the Table from the object bar on the left hand side.

Choose New button

Select Import table options and then press OK.

In the Import dialog box please choose MS Excel from the drop down list in file of types.

Select the Excel file you wish to import and click import button.

In the Import Spreadsheet wizard select the worksheet that you wish to import.

Follow the wizard by pressing next and choosing the relevant options.

After the last step you should be able to see your new table .

If this has answered your query then I would request you to please mark the question as resolved!! If not and you have a specific question related to this then please post it as a new question and we should be able to provide you the solution for it!!

Kindest Regards
