Thank you for your question regarding searching for a record in a form.

To do this you would need to use the SEARCH option (CTRL+F), or the binoculars. If you were to type a number into a form directly, you would need to program the field to automatically search for that value, in the recordset in the form.

For this to take place, you would need to create a stand alone field (textbox), and then drive a SQL query behind that box via a button to search for and find the record. There several ways of doing this, depending on your knowledge and skill with Access, SQL or VBA.

Generally speaking, I would go for the FIND option, as it gives the functionality immediately, without major programming requirements.
