Can I use Dreamweaver to create a template for an e-mail newsletter? Thanks Petra
RE: E-mail marketing
Hi Petra,
Yes you can use Adobe Dreamweaver to create a HTML page which you can then use to send out as an e-newsletter. Please bear in mind that you cannot use Dreamweaver to actually send the email, you will need to use another mass emailing application.
Also depending on which application you use to send your email you may be able to personalise the email by adding the customer/recipients name within the subject line and the content of the newsletter. In addition to this, you must include a method which the recipients can use to unsubscribe from your newsletter, again this may be included within your email application.
Hope this helps

RE: E-mail marketing
Hi David,
thanks a lot for your reply. I know a bit about e-marketing as I am sending the newsletters every month. But I have taken the Dreamwaver course to be able to create a better HTML files.
I do not use any mass mailing application as we have only about 1800 subscribers, so I just e-mail the newsletter to our subscribers from my Microsoft Outlook, put the addresses in BCC. Of course I need to send about 10 separate e-mails as I can not send the e-mail to 1800 people at once. Do you think we should use the mass emailing application? If yes, can you recommend any?
The other thing is - when I create the HTML file - our newsletter and put it online - What is the best way to put it in the body of the e-mail? - just highlight it and copy it into the new e-mail's body (the format of the e-mail has to be changed to HTML).. Because this is the way I was doing it till know, but I do not know if this is the best way..
And at last - would you know about any course that would help me with this practical part of E-marketing?
Thanks a lot
Petra
RE: E-mail marketing
Petra,
A good free mailing program is group mail pro, they also do a paid version which has a few more features. I would definitely recommend you use one of these programs to send your emails.
As far as emailing the HTML goes, if you use an application such as group mail then you actually just send the html file as an email i.e. you upload the html to the program then it sends it out as an email.
We don't have a set course for this type of work, but we have sent a trainer out to work on e-newsletters before. This was on a consultancy basis.
Hope this helps
