How do you password protect a databse

RE: Access

Hi Robin

To password protect a database you have to:

1. Open the database Exclusively
File/Open
Select the database to open
Click the arrow on the Open button and
Select Open Exclusive

2. In the database
Tools/Security/Set Database Password
Enter and Verify the password

NB You need to reopen the database in Exclusive mode to reset or remove the password protection

Hope this helps

Carlos

Access tip:

Hide Access Tables

One method of stopping your Access tables appearing in Database window, is to rename the table(s) with the prefix usys.

This converts the table into a system object, which cannot be viewed in the Database window.

You can show system objects in the Database window by the following:

Step 1: On the Tools menu, click Options.
Step 2: Click the View tab.
Under Show, select the System Objects check box.
Click OK.
