How do I stop a task from splitting with multiple calendars

I want to create a task with two resources, one of whom can work on certain days (e.g. Tues, Wed), the other on a differnet calendar (Mon-Fri). MSP 2003 splits the task to Monday and Tuesday. However, I need the resources together at the same time (e.g. for a meeting).

How do I stop it from splitting the task?

I am not levelling the project, so playing with priority and "do not split" does not help. I do not want to create combined resource, as I would lose visibility of individual resource allocations.

Thanks for any hints.

Kevin

Thanks for your question, however we cover these questions on our intro/inter Project, to try to explain this in a forum answer would be long and laborious.

Hi Kevin

You can overwrite Project's work allocations in Resource Usage view. Simply type in the hours you want the resource to work on the selected day. The work will be marked as EDITED in the indicator column. Note that Project will not be able to level the work for this task when you override the programming in this way.

MS Project tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Project 2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Project 2010 as well as Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
