Export limit to excel

Is there any way to improve on the limit of 255 characters when eporting data from Access to Excel?

If up to 1500 characters are in a field and required to be exported how would you suggest that the detail is moved accross?

RE: export limit to excel

Hi Dan

What is the data type you are trying to export? Text or Memo

Richard

RE: export limit to excel

Hi Richard,

Text. i.e. we have a database which we insert comments into a field. This needs to be exported for reporting purposes but we have a limit of 255 characters which is inadequate for our commenting purposes.

thanks

Dan

RE: export limit to excel

Dan,

The text field is limited to 255 as you know. The memo field however, can contain 65535 characters.

See if you can change the field to a MEMO type. I suggest making a copy of your live database and trying it on that one first, to ensure that there is no corruption. Generally seaking this type on conversation is not a problem.

The memo field has less functionality, ie(input mask etc.), but if you re only using it for the volume of info, you should be fine.

Regards

Richard

RE: export limit to excel

Thanks but the fields are already set to memo and the export limit to excel is still 255 characters?

RE: export limit to excel

ok, I will need to look into that more deeply. I will reassign this question to our other trainers and see if they can assist.

Richard
