Change Data Source in Power Pivot

Hi,
Please how do you change Data Source in Power Pivot that was created from a table by Adding To Data Model within same workbook in the same way you do normal pivot table?
Is it possible? If so, please show me how?

RE: Change Data Source in Power Pivot

Hi Tsudoi,

Thank you for the forum question and I hope that you are fine.

It is possible if you had the table in another workbook. The only way of doing it if you have the table in the same workbook as the data model, is to copy the new data and paste the data in the source table in your worksheet. Otherwise you will have to connect to the new table and build in the new table in your data model.

If you had loaded the table through Power Query, it was an easy task.

Unfortunately I cannot find any "smooth" solution.

Kind regards

RE: Change Data Source in Power Pivot

Hi Jens,
Thanks again for your reply. I hope you're well.
Understood that it has to come from another workbook by creating a new connection. No problems, I will do it that way.
In the meanwhile I have posted another question about DAX which is more important and complicated. If anyone can have a dig please...
Thanks again

Excel tip:

Generating Random Numbers

To generate a random number in Excel use the = RAND() function.

The value returned will always be between 0 and 1. To convert this to some other random value, you will need to multiply the result by the highest number you want to consider. For example, if you wanted a random number between 1 and 25, you could use the following code line:
= INT(25 * RAND()+ 1)

Since RAND() will always returns a value between 0 and 1 (but never 1 itself), multiplying what it returns by 25 and then using the Integer function INT on that result will return a whole number between 0 and 24.

Finally, 1 is added to this result, so that x will be equal to a number between 1 and 25, inclusive
