Using the inactive function

I have been sent a plan but I wish to use the 'Inactive' fucntion that will allow me to still see the task but exclude it form the gantt chart. However the option for 'Inactive' is not present on the ribbon under 'Task' and 'Schedule'.

Does anyone know why this is?

I can send a screen shot if that would be helpful!

Thanks in advance

RE: Using the inactive function

Hi Siobhan

I will look more into this. In the mean time could you please please check whether you have Project 2010 Standard or Professional? It should say under File, Help. at the top right of the screen. That may be the reason you can't see the Inactivate Task option.

Also see if it can be added to the Quick Access toolbar at the top left.

Click the triangle on the right then choose More Commands, All Commands.
It is called Activate/Inactivate Selected tasks on my version of Project.

Hope that helps for now.

MS Project tip:

Inserting Task Durations Quickly

When entering durations for your tasks simply use the single letters - m for min, h for hr, d for day, w for week, but mon for month. If default is set for days, you need only type the number, for example 3 for 3days, or 0.5 for half a day.
