Utilising task constraints

I am trying to activate a constrained to one of my tasks but it wont allow me to do so becasue i am in manually scheduled mode. When i change it to auto schedule the option is still not available.

Please advice.

Many thanks.

RE: Utilising task constraints

Hello Jacques,

Thank you for your question regarding utilising task constraints in Project 2010.

I presume you are trying to change the default constraint from 'As soon as possible' to a different type. Firstly if you are going to work with Project in an effective way you should not have any manually scheduled tasks. Fix that first and open the task information dialogue box for the task in question and go to the Advanced tab. Then from the constraint drop-down choose the type of constraint and choose a date from the drop-down on the right.

Depending on what type of constraint you choose and the location of the task, you may get a message or two. Make sure you allow what you are doing to take place.

If this doesn't work then I suggest that you send me the file without any confidential information telling me exactly what constraint you require and I will attempt to sort it out for you.

You may send the file to me at rl@stl-training.co.uk

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
