Alternative to "Merge and Centre"

On the Excel course I attended recently, Anthony made us aware of an alternative to "Merge and Centre". It looks like "Merge and Centre" but has the advantage that the cells are all still individually present. However, I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Could you remind me?

RE: Alternative to "Merge and Centre"

Hello Michael,

Thanks for your question on using an alternative to 'Merge and Center'. All you have to do is enter the data into a single cell. Select that cell and whatever other cells you need and then from the Home ribbon click the right-hand corner drop down button in the 'Alignment' group. In the Horizontal Text Alignment drop down select 'Center Across Selection'.

This will now look as if you have used Merge and Center

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
Regards,

Excel tip:

Activating the formula bar with the keyboard in Excel 2010

The formula bar in Excel 2010 contains a number of different formulas. However, it is time consuming to open the formula bar every time and insert the formula using the mouse. Instead, you can activate the formula bar with the keyboard. Simply press the F2 button on the keyboard then the information in the cell will expand allowing you to edit the information in the cell.
