RE: Resources

Hi Robin

Thank you for your question. MS Project has limited charting abilities.

For example you can use the built in resource graph as follows. Split the screen (Windows > Split) and make the top half the resource sheet and the bottom half the Resource Graph. Right click on the Resource graph and from the menu choose Bar Styles. Set the Allocated Resource to something other than "Don't Show" eg Area then select the resources you wish to review in the top half of the split. Excel creates a combined chart indicating levels of work assigned to resources on the plan.

To achieve a more detailed breakdown (such as a stepped bar chart) would be possible in Project Server. In MS project however the data would need to be exported and visualised in Excel.

I will take a look at possible options to achieve this and come back with some suggestions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

MS Project tip:

Typing Links Between Tasks

In the Entry table, use the Precessors column to type in links. Type the previous task's ID to link. To change the link, add FS (Finish-Start), FF (Finish-Finish), and so on, and + duration to add a Lag, or - duration for a Lead time. Example: for task 5, 4FS+1w ... task 4 preceeds task 5, finish to start, with a week lag between.
